Some Pics I Haven't Shown Of Some Finds On Land Over A Few Years. Pocket Watch, Rings, Wrist Watches, Bracelet, Religious Pendant, Old Padlock

Here's some stuff I haven't shown yet, with the exception of the old padlock. All this stuff including the rings, wrist watches, neckless, and pendant were found on land, with the exception of only two of the rings.

All the rings are junk but finding them all but two on land was a small victory anyway, because my hunting friends and I always say a ring is a ring. Certain amount of extra satisfaction digging a ring on land IMO, even if it is a junker.

Thinking the padlock might be 1800's perhaps or at least early 1900s and really need to research it as it's pretty unique looking. I hear some of those old padlocks can be worth a good buck to the right collector too.

The pocket watch I haven't cleaned the face off of yet, but it's junk metal on the back so I'm not in a hurry to clean it up. Found it a few months back in the woods.

The religious pendant is old and looks like silver but it's not stamped that and won't clean up easy, so I'm assuming it's not.

The bracelet below it is junk too unfortunately, but it was nice to see that the GT banged on that thin/tiny bracelet without much problem for it's size, even if it is junk metal.

It's all nice but, I really like that padlock!

Nice finds i agree the pad lock is cool ! Jim

Thanks you guys. It's got patterns on the front and back too that look really cool and makes me think it's rather old. Oddly I can't remember where I dug the stinking thing. That's strange because as bad as my memory can be about certain things, when it comes to detecting I can tell you where just about every good find of mine came from and walk you to within probably 5 feet of the spot at sites. Why I don't remember where I dug that big honking old padlock at is beyond me. I wish I did remember, because if it is as old as I think the site might have some other good relics or coins laying around waiting to be dug.

Going to see if I can find a name on it and research it's age/worth on the web. Some of those old locks are big bucks to the right collector. It's in great shape. The "wet" look to it is just because I had it soaking in olive oil for a while to remove any crud and protect it from the air degrading it. I like to do that with brass or copper relics and coins I want to keep in the best shape possible. As you can see, it's still rather oily from the olive oil.

I've been researching the lock. I found a name on the front called "F-S". Thus far I can't find a picture or price for it or an age, but my hopes are high on it's value as I'm finding some locks made by that company that don't look as old and are much more plain looking that are going in the $30 to $50 range or so, and those are some without keys or the lock being in working order. This lock is in very good shape for being in the ground because I think it's brass. My struggle to find any pictures of this one so far has me thinking it might be pretty rare. I've ran across a few from that company that look newer and more plain that, although not working and without key, are very rare and worth a good bit of money more so than the $30 to $50 for the more common ones (from what they said without naming a price they went for on collector forums and such). I just located a guy's blog who seems to specialize in these F-S locks and I sent him a picture of it to find out age, rarity, and value, so if I can't find this lock with further searching hopefully he'll have some information for me. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Lots of digging there Critter. Not so valuable or not when you see that stuff in the ground it really get's your heart pumping. Thanks for sharing. Gary

Thanks. I get my share of hunting in. Got to dig the hole to find the bling. I figure I got about a month or so here of warm enough weather and water to really push the water hunting. Just mad at myself that I kept putting off the water hunting this year, but as said everything above but two of those rings came from land hunting over time.

I'll try to post a collection of tokens I've found soon here too, and maybe a pile of various old buttons and some other assortments of stuff. I just wish my camera had more of a close up focus so I could really zoom in on a few things. It's got a manual focus so I have to take about 8 different pictures at various focus settings and distances just to be sure I get at least one with a clear close enough picture to see some detail on stuff. Real close detail shots on a coin or something small are pretty much almost an impossibility though, as you can see from that prior picture of the sterling butterfly ring I posted. That's about as good as this camera will get.

Nice finds, I wonder if you posted some close ups of the lock maybe someone on here could help ID it? HH
