Some People Think That PI's Can Not Find Many Coins......That Is A Myth.

A lot of people are under the impression that PI's only find lots of iron, bobby pins, other metallic junk and with some luck....a ring. That is simply a myth. Using the iron check, the audio tones (you have to learn them), the swing width, the 8 quiet blips on most bobby pins and straight nails and the roughness sound on many bottle caps vs. a coin, allows the user to actually leave a lot of junk in the ground. Between learning your PI detector well and choosing proper locations to use a PI, you should be able to get a nice batch of coins in the water or land. If you are looking for old silver and old copper coins, dig only the low-high signals instead of the high-low signals. The modulated audio also allows the user to just dig the deep targets.

These coins were found in during my learning curve, for the first 8 water hunts. I averaged about 50:50 ratio of junk vs. coins & jewelry. That really is pretty good, considering some water hunters dig it all, no matter which brand/type of metal detector they use.

Have to agree with you there John.
My Sov XS has not seen the light of day on salt beaches since I purchased my Infinium several years ago.
If I am not using the Infinium then I am using the sand Shark, both do a great job on the local beaches for coin hunting.
The Infinium and SS do not hit on gold chains very well . I have a standard digital Gold Bug for those items. This detector Ground balances our salt beaches in or out of the water.
The LST does a good job in the dry sand as does my very old Gold Seeker 15000.

Nice bunch of coins, John. I am the type of water hunter who digs it all and I find a lot of junk with my At/Pro but some good stuff, also.
I hope to get a PI detector next year and learn it's tones, but anything over a 40 on the At/Pro I dig. Most of the louder targets are trash, most of the time with the exception of the nice chain I found several months ago. I had a target that showed 04 on the DVI window, but had the pip sound and dug a clad dime from about 6 inches. It never showed on the higher scale of dimes, but it was there and the pip sealed the deal. HH.

PI are great for water use due to the stability. What I'm perplexed about is why would one have to ground balance a pi machine.new technology i guess. Still lots out there to be found so I'm a going...................................take care!
