Hey guys,

Here are a few pictures of some of the stuff I have found in the last 10 days with my 505.

WOW! Those are sopme really good finds. With out being specific, would you mind telling what sort of venues you found all that in?

Thanks and Congrats,
Glenn

I don't mind being specific. I found the military Pin in my inlaws front yard in Louisiana, 2days later I found the ring in the city park of gonzales, la., the change and the necklace pendant I found 2 days ago in a park in Whitehall, ar. The main thing is to get out and spend time with your detector and learn what it is telling you. For instance, the day I found the change and the silver pendant, I spent 8 hours at that park. Even had to buy some more batteries. I tried out different coils to test if they acted different and found that I can hunt in all metal mode and then switch to disc with my 4inch coil. Trying to do that with the 8 inch coil in the park was to much trouble. Although I am still learning, I am trying to get all I can from the detector and myself. As you can tell, I really like this hobby and tend to loose track of time when I put those head phones on. Thanks for the reply and happy hunting.

Nice finds capt. I wanted to upgrade from my QD II and wanted a Time Ranger but BH seems to have discontinued them. Maybe I should look at a 505. It sure works for you! Good job!

I just upgraded from a BH Tracker IV to the Pioneer 505 & have had very VERY good luck! I went back over the same park playground 1 week after getting my 505 to find a surprising number of dimes that my T-IV missed as well as other medium depth coins, about $4 worth... Then on my first pass through local Jr High field I found a 1907 dime & a Sterling mens ring. Ring was missing the oval stone that I tried to screen for, but no luck.
I have found 3 Silver rings, A brass marijuana "Toke Pipe", about $50 total in clad and over 200 copper pennies in the last 2- 3 weeks..! I think the 505 is a terrific machine especially considering the price. I only paid $200 incl S&H from KellyCo Scratch & Dent section. It finds more silver & dimes & fewer pull tabs than any machine I have used till now but I have not found any gold items yet.. DOC

If your machine is set to ignore pull tabs, you won't find much gold. The electro-magnetic signature of pull tabs and gold rings are often times indiscernible to virtually all metal detectors.

The rule of MDing is "If you want to find gold, you will HAVE to dig a lot of pull tabs."

Oh the bitter truth.

Hello everyone, I just joined today. (12-13) I have been swinging a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV for about a year and a half. To date I have found about 120.00 in change, 25 rings, and a ton of junk! All this came from local parks and school yards. One item I did find was a medal. It is in the shape of a triangle, has a bar attatched to the top that says A.A.S.R In the middle of the triangle is the year 1912.On the boarder of the triangle it says January Reunion Valley of Toledo.Any info. on this would be appreciated.I think im going to enjoy this sight. Thanks!, and happy hunting!

I should have said " In Auto-Notch it finds more dimes & fewer pulltabs..." You sure are right about gold & pull tabs! I recently switched to Disc mode set just past a nail target(about 12 o'clock) when searching possible jewelry sights. I was guilty of using Auto Notch far too much & probably missed more than a couple of good targets.. But I am still on the learning curve with my 505 as I got it less than 4 weeks ago. Thanks for the heads up on that Mark. DOC
I noticed a glaring oversight on the Bounty Hunter DVD in that they never spoke about setting machine to find gold items..

I believe that is because of the cruel reality that if one were to discriminate-out pull tabs and the like that virtually all gold would also be discriminated-out. BH does not want to advertise this fact. When I bought my machine in May (I had virtually no experience with MD at the time) I thought it was so cool that a MD could find "treasure" and ignore "junk." That is what the manufacturers want people to believe. That is the reason I believe BH and other makers as well, down-play finding gold, since if you want to find gold, you are going to have to dig a boat load of junk.
