hi, all. most of us have taken a short vacation due to the summer heat; but now, our season's just getting ready to begin! i've been on a few short hunts since mid july, and found a good bit. the two virginia seal buttons are both young smith 1842 - 1844, tice 212b. one has a nice shank, and one doesn't. there's a gash across the face of the one i found this past weekend. it was found about thirty feet away from the first one. they were both great to find!
i've been hunting an old house site since spring and it's still producing. all types of old brass and iron buckles, handfuls of minies, suspender buckles, flat buttons, an 1817 large cent, a dateless large cent, old kid's jewelry, etc. most are pictured here. in late july found a nice union kepi buckle with the leather still in it, and yesterday found a nice knapsack rivet with it's leather too, right next to a nice dropped three ringer. so, let the season begin. thanks for reading, and hh,

Neat stuff...love that button...what are the 4 doodads at the bottom of the first pic???
