Received my 1236x2 in very nice shape. Whenever I get a new detector, I immediately replace the batteries for fresh ones of a good brand. I found it a complete nightmare to get the batteries out. I had to bounce the controlbox on my knees to get them out and that took me like 20 minutes. Terrible... and I am afraid it will not be very good for the electronics.
However, I searched the archives and somebody gave the tip to place a very thin ribbon between the contacts of the batteries and let the ribbon hang out a bit so that whenever you have to replace the batteries, you can pull the ribbon so that they fall out. So I hope that problem is solved with this.
I noticed that this 1236x2 is made in China......hmmmm.... anybody noticed any differences in performance between USA and China made?
The dealer made the mistake to send me a 4 inch coil instead of the 5 inch. Although I checked it and it seems to be very hot. Is the 5 inch better??
I really have confidence in the machine after reading all the information and posts in the forum and forum archives. After the explorer XS it will feel like a relief to use in my irfon infested fields.
Thanks to all for your previous info and tips.
