I have been hunting with the CTX for a little over a month, since taking the dealer seminar from the MineLab people in Chicago in the early part of May. I have made some nice finds and this machine keeps on amazing me. I came from using the Explorer SE. I never use the Etrac so I read a lot more of the post on here, and the many tips have helped me a lot. Now I think I have a knowledge of the machine and feel more confident in using it out in the field, as evident by some of the finds I will post on here. I use mostly the coin mode and make changes from it. My patterns are factory, recovery is deep, pinpoint sizing, target separation Ferrous-coin, tone ID profile I started out in 50 conductive, but changed to combined tones. I changed the sound Hz to 1200 on the fourth zone. I have been digging most everything even if I think it is iron, or junk to see where it falls on the screen, and to hear the sounds and see what is actually is. I have dug a lot of nails, small iron, aluminum, pull tabs and other junk. My hearing is not what it used to be, lost some, so I rely a lot on the screen target trace which I use because of my hearing. The target trace option is one great new feature. I have used the gps and love being able to use the find point to target my good finds and download them to the map on Xchange. My deepest find was in the picture with the small lock, was the flat button next to the silver dime was 11 inches deep. It hit pretty good with some breaking sounds, both ways (90). The silver dime was my first silver in that same picture. That broach in another pictures is silver also. It says sterling on it. The large cents are 1820, 1829, 1833, and the other one with the square hole in it is very worn and cannot get a date or any writing off it. So far I am very happy with the CTX and would recommend it. Three of the LC where found in the same area.
