Some more MXT Silver

Took the MXT out for a spin after the snow was mostly mested off this afternoon. The hardest thing was finding a place that wasn't completely flooded. I decided to detect at the local Middle School and hit the high spots. I was using the Detech 6X8 SEF coil on the MXT and it really is a good coinshooting coil. My very first signal when I started to hunt was a small .925 silver ring so I was off to a good start. The ring was the only quarter signal I got but I did find 4 dimes, 5 nickels, and 11 pennys with one of them being a 1940 wheat. It was nice to be able to get out after being rain and snowed in the last few days.

Congrats on the finds. What a way to start off the day with a silver being your first target. :clapping: It's going to be a long time before any type of metal detecting around here. The below zero temps are killing us. HH, Nancy

Good job on the silver. I can't wait to get my MXT out. It will be the first time using it. GS

I love my MXT so far. I do miss my Tone ID sometimes in certain situations but I just bought a M6 for that specific need. I am sure the M6 will see the 6X8 SEF and the 4X6 DD most of the time. In open areas or when I am looking for deep targets the MXT will definitely get the call. It is a beast in that department.

I'm waiting to try out my MXT (Pro). It has a 7-tone option on C&J (If you ever want to upgrade). That seems like it might be sensory overload (for me at least) but it might be what you are looking for. I, personally think the two-tone (iron/non-iron or above/below the discrimination setting) sounds doable to me. YMMV

You will love the MXT Pro. I will probably end up with one someday but I just couldn't afford it right now so I got the M6. My last machine was a DFX with 191 tones and I have had a couple of Explorers and an Etrac so I am no stranger to hunting in trash with the tones. I can understand how it can be overwhelming and I have tried the two tone Relic mode on the MXT but I just can't get past the Icons saying buttons etc. instead of what denomination of coin it is. I am a little OCD about those kind of things and it just bugs me. I have heard from some that hunting that way gives you a little extra depth but others have said that both the C&J and Relic Modes are equally as deep. I can't really tell the difference in depth on air tests and really haven't had it long enough to try it on actual targets. I hope you can get out soon with the MXT Pro.

Me too - though it seems wishful thinkin' at the moment, given the conditions. Currently there's a debate around here as to whether you're legally required to stop for stop signs that are buried to the top in snow. Ok, I made that part up, but if I happened to get a ticket for failure to stop I would definitely take that argument to traffic court with me - complete with photo.
