Whatever it is the design looks like a crown on a Spanish Reale. And I love them Reale's.
It was loud and clear. Approximately 10" and 176 on the meter

Nice old find i dont think it is a Reale that would be solid silver it looks like a seal of sorts pewter over copper but still old possiable 18th century  Jim

Perhaps a makeup compact? I've dug several of those about that size over the years, though not with that design on it. Last one I dug read 170 on the meter.

Looks like a make up cover , -- dispite that womans attempts to save her beuty it slowly slipped away leaving her with a face more like a lizard than a human, then the guys turned thear heads in other derections lest they remit the contents of thear stomacs, oh how the crown has fallen from our heads but once the beuty of youth is gone it goes inward, in kind deeds and noble actions - but i am sure in the resurection her buety will be fully restored . and that without makup -

Thanks guys. I know it is not a Reale. It is just that the symbol on it reminded me of a Reale. Actually it is a Prince of Wales symbol I am going with a Prince of Wales Rosette/sash buckle.

Thanks guys.

wow, gunnar that was deep and somewhat profound......yes i would agree its a rossette...i dont exactly know what a rossette is but i have found a few over the years, not that exact type though....i think they were something on the horse leathers......looks old and thick and slighly iron like...

I would have thought it was a wax seal with the ring/stem portion missing - but it's a nice whatever it is.

cool find...you just never know what`s down there...congrats!
