Some initial thoughts on the Vista RG 1000

The Vista RG 1000 is a motion based detector that operates at 12.5 khz making it well suited for all types of metal targets. V2 (version 2) operates with two motion based disc. functions. A normal disc and a two tone all metal . In two tone all metal you will receive a high pitch tone for all targets that are non-ferrous and a low tone for small ferrous items. Mid to large ferrous target will also come back with a high tone. Being a Relic Hunter with many years under my belt this does not bother me. If you don't want to dig large iron then use the standard disc mode. The audio does a good job so large iron will reveal itself. You will however only hear a single tone.
The manual ground balance procedure is simple, Just bob the detector coil up and down away from metal and turn the GB knob until all ground noise is eliminated .
You may have to turn the sensitivity down to eliminate interference from out side power lines and broadband noise. Not a problem because of the depth the detector will achieve. The machine is built like a tank but only weighs slightly over three pounds. The detector face is about the size of a GTI 2500. All controls are simple to use and understand. It uses 8 AA batteries. Great recovery speed in iron with the 11" DD coil. I got a 5 inch coil also so iron masking is not a problem. Some of the best iron disc I have ever used. No problem working in difficult ground.
If a beep and dig detector is your thing you may want to check it out.
My only complaint is the cost. But you gotta pay to play.

i admit they are a bit pricey but i don't think i will ever sell mine i really like it it and theres no mistaking the sounds of iron but on mine i did get some weird hot rocks that made my machine sound like a really good signal but had a backward murmor like sound to it something i had never heard before and at this one particular site is the only time this has happened, depth is very good!

Hot and cold rocks will be a nuisance with any motion disc. machine but if they get out of hand ground balance them out.
