Ok ok.. I know ive been asking a lot of questions, I am sorry if i am anoying any of you.
Allrighty here is the question. I have a target, It shows a 30-50 in the pinpoint mode. with threshold arround -20- -30. And sense at lvl 4-7. I dig down about 8-10 inch and still can not find the +34 signal. At this time the signal gets weird hard to pinpoint (maybe the halo is messed up?)
Well My question is.. Should i keep diging? Just how deep does the C$ GO!! I have a sneaking suspicion that im not digging deep enough, Maybe thats why i havent found any old coins.
Well i have been having realy good luck with clad and stuff within about 3-4 inches. But i have yet to find anything deeper. Even in areas where i can up the sense to 8-9.
Any help is apreciated .. I am getting slightly confused about this.. I have had the C$ for about 6 days. and have hunted with it 6 days in a row <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> about 3-5 hours a day.

sometimes it might be hitting on a buried pipe which might be well past that point. the C$ should hit a quarter at 10-12" at least in my area. If you can stand the feedback, you can up your threshold, which will give you slightly better depth to -5 or -10.

Hi Dave,
Are you back on the beach or in a park?
If you are on the beach, I have heard of people digging coins close to the 2 foot mark and sardine cans at 3 feet. I think I read where you have alot of black sand at your beach so it may be different.
If you are in a park, have you researched the age of the park? It maybe that you are looking for stuff that isn't there and you are just picking up very old rusted iron or steel moved around or buried during landscaping.
From your post and the range of numbers you gave for each setting and pinpointing, I am guessing that you played around with your settings over this target?
I for one would like to see the answer to this identified. Nothing worse than getting a good repeatable signal and having to go off and leave it in the ground, unknown.

Both, I have been having better luck on the beach tho, In dry sand. I figured out i like using all metal mode. Thing is when i get down to the wet sand because of all the black sand i realy need to lower the sense and thresh. Sense around 2-3 tracking on thresh arround 30-45, averaging off.

Is this with the C$ ?

No i haven't done this yet, But i know the park is the oldest in town.

No not realy , When i get to a site i ground ballance and then walk arround a little, If it is falsing a lot (lots of signals) i lower the settings, Then re ground ballance (wash and repeat) untill it gets stable. I am still new so i am pobibly doing this wrong.
Thanks Mike , im hopefully going to hook up withsomeone this weekend for a hunt. (he doesn't own a c$ but he is a pro so maybe he will be able to help me out some.

Hi Dave,
For some really good beach hunting information, do a search for a site called "The Golden Olde".
For your park hunts, it sounds like you got a good old site to search, but I would try to date it and find out what was there before it was a park. That will tell you what to expect in it. It may be full of deep rusted iron, or it could have been a dump or an old burned down building or who knows, until you research it.
I think you are learning your machine and I am learning from you. Keep posting. I really want to know what those signals are and it they are ghost signals, how to reconize them and cancel them if posible. I have hit patches of iron oxidation before that sounded off, and tree roots, too.
