hello everyone .. well i just bought my first minelab e-trac .. and i thought the whites dfx 300 took time to learn
lolol,,, well i could use some info on maybe some settings. etc.. i have bin reading my hand book for this machine
and i love it already i haven't bin out yet ,, but i see here that we could share settings and info with the usb ,port
I'm having trouble finding the site were we can share.. i have called minelab two time already with no luck of them picking up the phone
well i thank everyone for reading this ,, and any info on this would really help me u cant get enough input on this ,, i looked forward to making new friends on line and around the world
with this new machine ,, and the Internet ,, thanks and have a great day good hunting poeple

I was new about a month ago and what advise I got was to practice and don't concern yourself with the usb stuff until you get familiar by using the preloaded modes and learning the SOUNDS that the e trac makes for each target and to read Andy's book explaining the basics in detail. I have been out about 10 or 15 times and I learn a little more each time. Your machine will tell you more than anyone on this forum can.... Be patient and sit in your room and practice with all the menu and settings to get familiar with the easy stuff first and the learning is easier each passing day.... Have patience and good luck and remember to set your audio variability to 29 and listen for the high pitch tones. 90% of the time those are the diggers.

Totally agree. Turn it on, noise cancell, you should be in coin mode and start swinging. You will learn faster if you have a few old coins you can test out first. Then you know how the machine will settle down and give you a good clean signal when there is a coin or other good target. Practice practice practice

You've probably already done this, but I would at least suggest you play with Variability and Limits and especially the pitch tone with different coins and get the pitch where you like silver to sound. Some like it very high, some a little lower. I've got mine on 20, as that is where I like it. For the most part the pitch tone is a "set and forget"....so that's why I suggest. If you haven't been told, Andy Sabisch's Minelab Explorer and E-Trac handbook is a very great help.

Enjoy the learning.

im fairly new too. (see my sig.) and i dont see a time ever that i will actually use the USB port. all ive done is "open up" my disc. a little bit to let more signals through. you will just have to start swinging and digging. I dont see any way around it. make sure your sensitivity is on auto and after a while set it to auto +3. try learning in "cleaner" areas like yards. junky areas can be overwhleming at first. the e-trac is very "chatty"

thanks ,, and yes today was my first run with the e trac the park is old but high in trash so i did not know what to dig can s
were giving a good signal ,, so yes i will have to read up on this ,, found 4 coins clad .. but its a start.. thanks for the vid
it does help .. need to get this one down lol thanks again good hunting
