SOME GOOD TIPS FOR NEWBIES JUST STARTING

TRIPLE-SSS

Well-known member
Hi Everyone,
I just thought that I would try and help those new guys and gals who just started this new hobby. I really have not been doing this very long myself, just a little bit over 2 years. The things that I have learned along the way have been from actual field experience and all the information that I have acquired from reading all the posts on this forum, For that I do want to thank everyone for sharing this valuable info. The pictures are a little rough, not to say the least, but they should give you an idea on what is the most effective way to detect based on my experience. Most of my detecting is at the beach and it's quite a distance from my home so I try to stay all day using my time wisely.
Here are some suggestions that should help you along the way.
1---One of the most important things is not to get discouraged when your expectations are not what you expect. You will have some good days and bad ones as well. this is true for ever thing in life.
2---Get to know your detector, give yourself enough time to really know what it's telling you. Your detector will only do so much and the rest is up to you!
3---I know that when I get really tired , I sometimes do everything wrong and loose my focus. Take short breaks and get re energized so you don't loose that focus.
4---When I'm on the beach, if I don't get any hits, I move to a different location until I do.
5---COVER UP YOUR HOLES. So many times I see other folks dig these creators and they don't cover them up. It sure would give us a bad name if someone got hurt as a result of our laziness.
6---Be sure to take some precaution on where you hunt, get permission, be aware of your surroundings. You never know who your gonna come across, allot of loonies out there. ALWAYS LET SOMEONE KNOW WHERE YOU WILL BE AND ABOUT WHAT TIME THEY SHOULD EXPECT YOU BACK.
7---Remember that this is only a hobby and enjoy yourself, don't let it become work.
8---Tons of information on this and many other forums to help you along. I'm sure those old timers would be more than happy to help you along the way.

There are a few things that I won't mention and keep to myself. This knowledge you will have to learn for you self in time. I guess it's like that famous restaurant that won't give up that secret recipe that made them famous. I hope this really helps everyone out to some degree.

HAPPY HUNTING TO EVERYONE
