Some good advice for new Detectorists

Stop !!! Do you really need that 8, 9 even 1100, or 1,400 dollar detector.

Simple answer is no you don't.

Todays detectors even the 250 range, and under really work very well.

The one thing that is going to mandate the big expensive detectors is Do you want it or not.
If you want it, get it.
If you, like the most of us just detect for a hobby, have no real great places for detecting...Local Parks, Schools, Beaches, and hopefully an old house or two
You can spend way more than you need too.

The high end detectors require high end places for detecting. If you do not have those places open to you..then whats the point of buying a detector you will never use all the things on it..... Simple can be very good....So think about it, look em all over and choose wisely...

If you run out and buy a over $1,000.00 dollar detector..You are going to expect $1,000.00 dollar finds....and the truth is unless you stumble across a good ring, or rare coin..It just isn't going to happen..You can find both Good rings and rare coins with a reasonable priced metal detector.

I know it's natural for wanting the biggest, baddest, best..but you do not need it for the pleasure of metal detecting.

Good advice for everyone.
My First Detector was an IDX Pro. Last year I spent $212 for the Ace 250.
Its a great detector for the money. Its doesn't do much past 6 inches
but most of your coins/finds in parks and sports fields are not going to be that deep
anyway. For most beginners and even seasoned old timers, the Ace 250 does a bang up job.
There is also the F-2 by Fishers/FristTexas at $199 and you get a free sniper coil with it.
I know nothing about Bounty Hunters but for the beginner it might be an ok machine.

I now own the 250 and the MXT
