Some Gold Bug Special Edition, Pro & DP details

The Fisher web site at fisherlab.com provides a few details about the Gold Bug Special Edition, Pro & DP that were new to me, although most of the information given has been well know for some time. In any case, should any of this forum's readers wish to look at the details for themselves, go to to the main Fisher Labs web site. Once there, click on "Hobby." Then, at the top of the Hobby page, click on "Fisher News & Reviews." Once on the Fisher News & Reviews page, click on "Fisher Lab News" (in the middle of the page toward the top). The resulting page has "Specifications" links to what are now called the Gold Bug ($549 retail...no longer Special Edition...Special Edition "transitions to the Pro"); the Gold Bug Pro (comes with 5" coil, no price listed on the specifications page): and the Gold Bug DP (11" coil and $749 retail). Based on the information shown on these links it appears that the Pro and DP are the same detector, except for the coils. In fact, if one looks at the detector image on the DP specifications page, it shows "Gold Bug Pro" as the name on the detector.

Further down on the Fisher Lab News page there is a link for a coupon special which allows one to buy an 11" or 5" DD coil for $75 + $10.95 for shipping and handling (between Nov. 1st 2010 & Jan. 15th 2011). This has been mentioned previously on this forum by Mr. Bill. One has to print the coupon, because there is a back (really just a second printed page) that must be filled in and sent in. The Fisher Lab News page also mentions the free Teknetics pick and headphones (mentioned previously by Mr. Bill too).

Sorry folks, there is an error in the information I posted last night. The link to click on at the top of the Hobby page is "Finds News & Reviews," not Fisher News & Reviews.

Gold Bug SE has manual GB and VCO modulation $ 499, Plain Gold Bug $549 no manual GB and set VCO tone(like Cabelas model) Gold Bug DP comes with 11" coil $750, Gold Bug Pro has features that SE had Manual GB ,VC0 two tone.5" coil $ 650 Pretty confusing isn't it. The SE model will shortly be no longer available once stock runs out.You can buy a new plain Gold Bug for more money but without manul GB and VCO modulation. The DP has everything but comes with 11" coil only. And the Gold Bug Pro is same as the now out of production SE with 5" coil..So if you want a Gold Bug that was like SE buy the Pro for more money.Or get a SE while still available for less money.DID you understand all that??? LOL
