Some Finds from this weekend...

had a great time with family and friends. got out with Donnie on Saturday morning. I woke up and had an hour before he called and was out at 5:30,I found some iron relics and an old angle ruler. At 7:00 Donnie and I were in the woods hunting the area I found the 60th button. We scoured the woods, finding a good pound of shotgun shells and a few musketballs. We got some old knives, ox shoes and other relics, but no coins or buttons. With an hour left we hit an old road, we had hit a few times on the way back to the truck. his first hole turned up 2 wheaties. I concentrated on the road, working it slow. The bigger button was on the side of the old road along with a small button. i found a small musketball farther down the trail and then picked up the gold plated button and the other in the same hole. i noticed anything deeper than 4" gave me a broken up signal, so i dug anything that sounded remotely good. This paid off. i guess the ground is real tough and since we usually move thru this section fairly fast, we had missed these finds. i went back today for a half hour and used 15Kz only and found the musketball. this freq. seemed to work better in the tough soil. I was psyched, since i don't fnd many colonial buttons. Have a good one.

i will definitely take it slower on the old roads now. Alot of them are full of iron and charcoal bits from over the the years of travel and can make good fines sound like junk.
