finally asked permission at an old site I pass by regularly. I asked the owner and turns out he is a professor in Montreal. I had a great conversation about the history of the area. He invited me in to see an Edison bottle he dug and some other cool antiques. He gave me permission to hunt the site of the old hotel and invited me to take a walk in back of the house. Turns out the old main road to NYC runs behind his house and is still evident. He also said that Jesuits bought the property(which had been part of a hotel) and had retreats starting there in the early 1900's. He gave me permission to hunt the large expanse of woods once morel season was over. I told him I would wait until we could go together since I have 2 detectors and would give a call. Turns out he used a detector as a soldier when the French fought the Muslims in Algeria. Sure glad I stopped.

i know where plenty are in CT but not here yet(at least not one of my own). It is raining hard so tomorrow would be a good day to look. Do they grow around newer apple trees? There are apple orchards all over and I always found them around abandoned apple orchards( and dead elms)I did get some fiddleheads tho. Have a good one Butch!
