Hit a couple of colonial sites today. The ground balanced at 86 or so. The best feature on this detector for me was iron id tone roll. I knew right away when I had large iron. The detector never said dig me. As a relic hunter I love to dig large items in known camps but not so much hunting other sites and agriculture fields. The real weakness is the headphones. Gotta lose them if the detector is gonna appeal to hard core hunters. The signals sound scratchy and the volume is weak. They feel off my head twice kneeling down to dig a hole.
Improving the way you hear the signal will mean more finds. I was surprised that the small numbers were easy to see out in the field. Depth was fine and recovery was fast. Dug a rosette next to a large iron tone roll sound.
The other problem is the pinpoint is weak. I just checked the depth on the screen. Gonna try it again tomorrow with a friend using his G2 from F. Just to compare sound not to bash either detector. I think the pros real value lies under the fresh water of rivers and lakes.
