Some cool action shots with my game tracker..

They've got miles and miles of woods all around me and they come into my yard
and rub on my young fruit trees :ranting::veryangry:

A buck will make what is called a scrape. He will paw at the ground tearin it up.
He will then urinate in that scraped up area. He also will reach up and
rub a gland near his eye on a branch above the scrape. He will also leave saliva on that branch...( licking branch )
A doe in estrus will come along, check the scent on the branch and ground, and if she finds the buck acceptable
she will urinate in the scrape. The buck will check his scrapes, or scrape line often and if he encounters a receptive doe
on the scrape he will follow her scent and breed her.
A buck will also have 'mock' scrapes. Sort of jist a territorial markin'.
This pic looks as tho that is the case here.
He is rubbin the lickin branch but you can see there is no scrape below it.

A buck will make 2-3 er 4 of these scrapes in a line but only in his territory.Hence..scrape line.

A mature buck will also maintain what is called a rub line.
In this case, it will be a succession of small trees rubbed and tore up with his antlers.
This is only a territorial marking.
I have a young buck that comes into my yard all the time that is the subordinate in this area.
he is not allowed to mark any territory in the nearby woods so
he has started to come down into my front yard and rub my yound fruit trees.:veryangry:
When an older or dominant buck discovers this he will tear my trees up even more in an attempt to run the younger buck out of the area.:veryangry::veryangry:

Good bit of info Jim, very interesting. My brother-in -law makes venison jerky. When he gives me a bag I can't stop eating it, man it's tasty.
