Some basic tips for new hunters

Garrett machines are pretty easy to get on to, but nothing takes the place of experience. Read your manual, try a little practice at home before heading out into the wild. While home try scattering some coins, pull tabs, etc in an area than conceal them with newspaper or something and practice IDing and pinpointing. Then go out to a sand volleyball court and do the same. Using your own money will make you bear down better.
Once you get going, always keep a log of where you hunted, how many coins you found etc. plus the date you were there. Use Google Earth or Map quest for an aerial view of where your going to hunt. This tool is fantastic. Most important, make your holes as unnoticeable as possible. Probe for your target carefully with a thin long screwdriver when hunting clads. Be more careful hunting silver or someones ring. Turn around and check your holes once in a while, if their UGLY, please do something about them. Tear the place up, they will shut the place down for everyone.
This is enough from me, let some of the other vets give a tip so I can learn something also.
