Rob...nice pics. I haven't been out gazing at all this year. I have a Televue Genesis SDF and a 12.5" Portaball I use. I take pics with the 4" Televue though.

I got a few pics of the transit of Venus when that happened a few years back and they came out pretty good. Went down to the beach before sunrise...took the pics and when it was over..went detecting.

I'm flying back to Canada for some much needed R&R and hope to get out with my older brother and his "light cannon" as I call it. He has traded his way up to an 18" Dobsonian ( I guess astronomy is a lot like metal detecting - always trading up our toys)and it is amazing the stuff you can see with it. The moon is almost too close.

i want a bigger one, you can see the moon good in any telescope, big or small. Ive looked through an 18 inch before, its amazing compared to the 8 inch. They even make a 36 inch special order!! It costs probably over $20,000.
