FAQ: Do sand rakes take away gold? Was just asked that yesterday. Said no, they plow it up and make nice straight flat rows to hunt. Spotted this one right behind the rake today: "Funny looking screwcap..." It's 3.3 gr.-no problem carrying it back to the car...

I was also asked that very thing by a guy out on the beach swinging a 1280x...He is recovering from back surgery and trying to get limbered up...I also said NO...they might get chains, but not rings or coins...In fact, they get all the scraps out of the way and make for an easy hunt... the only thing I dont like about the beachrakes, they cover all the towel prints and obvious signs of a loss where finger marks were raked through the sand looking for something, so I try my best to get there before they do, but all is not lost if I dont......Nice find there Clive!:clapping:

I'm constantly finding gold colored beer bottle tops and it gets your juices flowing for a few short seconds seeing that golden glint! Yes, Ive also found some decent finds after the beaches have been raked. I spoke to an older beach city worker awhile ago and he recollected the time when they found all kinds of gold and silver jewellery and of course, a ton of rings. I could seen that same golden glint in his eye as he pondered on those sweet memories! He said that now they are NOT to go through the raked up debris or they stand to loose their jobs (yeah right)!!! He said that the supervisor's have dibbs on the goodies! Da%#mm!!!!
