SOLD...on TTF!

Went to a ghost town yesterday and started the day hunting in Bill S's trashy park program which is what I normally use in ghost towns. Worked OK, got 1 1965 dime (missed silver by one year!), then pretty much spent the next hour listening to nulls and the occasional interesting target. In the past, when I had tried TTF for a few minutes, I got bored by the monotony of it and went back to discrimination. Well I finally decided yesterday to spend what was left of the day (about 5 hours) in TTF. Boy, am I glad I did! I wound up with a 1911 V nickel (my first V!!!), a 1940 Jefferson nickel which had been very abused - almost bent 90 degrees with one edge stretched about a quarter of an inch, a wheat penny and a Colorado tax token. I think I would have found the penny in discrimination and possibly the token, but there is no way I would have gotten the nickels.

Thanks to whoever came up with TTF! It gives me one more tool in the Etrac's rather impressive arsenal.

Haven't yet figured out the digital camera thing yet. If I do, pictures will follow.

Congrats ! TTF does work really well. Now you need to go back to some of your tough sites and find what you missed.

I plan to do that very thing. I'm really excited about the possibilities!

Over the last year or so - I've gone back to a few dozen sites that I hunted when I first got my E-Trac three years ago.
When I first got my machine I hunted junkie sites in multi-tones and I was using the factory - combined coin & jewelry mode.
I've dug real good targets at approx. 80% of these sites that I missed on the first hunts.

All I changed was ...

(1) - Switched over to - 2 Tone Ferrous

(2) - Using very little discrimination - almost a wide open white screen.

(3) - And very important - I've slowed my swing speed way down.

Is there a method of testing (TTF) above ground to train my hearing?
