Sold my Vaquero for a canoe.

Just because I love my wife who thinks detecting is for the birds.
Now just think of all the good places my wife and I can explore with a canoe
........and my Bandido.

And I bought his Vaquero because like I told my wife all the rings and jewelry will rip up out of the ground and stick to the coil like a magnet...she better get a bigger jewelry box once I get it!!!!!!!!

Dang,
Best of luck with the canoe exploring and detecting. I only take the water proof detectors on the canoe and I rope them in. It is so easy to get them wet or flip every thing. I've only flipped the canoe once ... several years ago ... but I learned my lesson.

I was thinking of wrapping it heavy duty trash bags. Along with the rope.

We took it out for a voyage today and what we thought was just two hours turned out to be four. At first I was really missing that Vaquero but after awhile things seemed to smooth out and up the river we went.
Took a dip and fought the wind going back. Going up stream was easier then going down stream? We decided thing were smooth enough back in the lake to take off our PFDs and our rumps appreciated because those canoe seats are hard. Despite a inch thick layer of SPF 35 I still managed to burn thanks to my lucky Irish bloodline.

Sounds like it's SPF 50 next time!

If you see any areas where several people like to take dips, you may have a good detecting spot. Just don't get the Bandido's box wet.

I found my first two rings (both .925 silver) with the Cibola knee deep in water on a creek with a small beach area. Then I started looking for a water proof detector.
