Sold my Red Racer....

.....and Just this minute ordered the Racer 2 standard package!!

Wahhooo, can't wait til it arrives!

How you guys finding, as in how easy to get used to the settings etc like Rd Racer?

Here I come beach. Well, after it arrives,

Matt

Just a couple few more adjustments, but being able to save your settings is great! I typed up a cheat sheet with few different "programs" ( park, ghost town, beach) and laminated it so I could keep it in my pocket first couple of times out. Easier to set up when you already have the settings figured out before hand. Have fun!

I just put my first hunt in with the Red this morning and after making a couple of area moves and not having the "save last settings" feature was the first thing I bemoaned about the Racer. You all know, it probably cost me 15-20 seconds of swinging time. Early in the game with it, but so far I like it. HH jim tn

Next time it'll only cost you 4-5 seconds :) Take it someplace you've hunted hard with your F75, and be prepared to be amazed. Oh and make sure you set it up good, 2 disc, 98 gain, 3-tone, small coil and you'll make the finds. I took it to a place I thought I sanatized and was amazed at what it sniffed out, but a lot of the signals were not that great, but good enough to let you know there was something non-ferrous there.

Hi Brian, LOL. that 15-20 was for two restarts.

I have one spot in particular I want to hit with the Racer, as it had gotten pretty lean with two of us using the 75's on it, but need a good soaking rain to dig it as much of it is a mix of dirt and gravel. Your settings are pretty much how I had it set up this morning. Dug a fair number of coins, just no silver. Thanks, HH jim tn

Having the ability to save settings on the Red Racer isn't important when you only have gain and ID Filter to adjust. I haven't heard of anyone with the Racer 2 that wishes it didn't have the option to save the settings.

Finally Arrived yesterday, problem is though...no rain covers....so anyone got any ideas apart from the obvious ones on ebay etc that I can get as rock-bottom low oric as possible.

I wouldn't use my R2 in the rain anyway, but the cover for the speaker and battery compartment is essential.

For now I've got a couple of computer fan dust filters covering the speaker:bouncy: better than nothing.

Ain't been out yet, but will DEFINITELY be going out with it today :clapping::wiggle:cheers
Matt

So....? How'd the first hunt go?

Haven't been out yet...my covers arrive tommorow, so aint going out til them, as I dont wanna risk even a grain of sand or dirst get in tht speker or battery compartment.

Already got the speak cover up with some nice computer dust proof protection.

Damn rain forecast....but first trip will be to the dunes.

I've got it all setup redy to rock, got all the pull tabs i could find, tin foil, chewing gum wrappers etc and set them up so they sound horrible and tinny.

Set up the silver and gold and coins etc to the complete opposite.

Well, let's see what happens when I got out...VERY soon......

Matt

Hmm. With only a 200 difference, maybe you should have gone with the pro pack and gotten the covers, extra coil and shaft as well as the rechargeable battery system.
That's what I'm waiting for. I have the funds for the standard pack, but waiting until I have enough for the pro. Cheaper than buying it piecemeal later. That small coil, if it's anything like my Nokta 5" is a lifesaver in some areas.

I bought the Regular Racer Pack and then a Pro Pack. I personally think the regular pack is the better deal. I don't care for the Makro hat, the shirt is a size large, and I wear an XL, the headphones are really cheap, and I already have rechargeable batteries and chargers from other detectors but I usually prefer alkalines longer run times and they don't quit all of a sudden. If you don't need the other crap, jut buy the small coil and the covers. I recently picked up the Cors Shrew coil for the Racer that measures 3.5" x 6.5" for $101.00. every bit as good at separation as the OOR or 5.5" Makro coil but with a little more coverage.

Me too, I think the regular pack is best deal.

I have no use for a small coil Plus i've got better rechargable batteries than the pro pack.

Duracell Duralock 2400mah...they rock!

Plus I already have 2 fast chargers + 1 normal charger.

Camo rain covers arrived today £19.95

Sorted.

Matt.

That's true. But if the cost of the regular, plus the extra coil you choose, extra lower rod and covers is same price as pro pack it makes sense. If it's more then I'll go with pro pack.
Don't use rechargeables. Don't need the headphones either.

you buy well staffydog33 - that's what I do when it comes to buying this gear - get maximum value for the money :clapping:

if you don't need the batteries, charger and headphones, cap or tee-shirt you can sell them off as NEW Makro items -

If you only get $50 for those (at minimum) then its only an extra $150 for the extra coil & cover - enviro covers plus extra shaft and hardware - just my 2c

I didn't get a t shirt with mine, unless it's in the bag. Never opened the carry bag

"Come on Staffydog.....tell us how you got on?
Did it work as you expected? How did your Tone set up work?
Yes? No?
Is there any thing you will change next time out???"
