I bought a Tesoro Silver U Max to hunt yards, and tot lots. Then I took a look at all the places I had intended to go, and they are all in "Fisher Country", where you want to reach down deep and have the guy at the bottom of the hole yell back in Mandarin.Come on, does that Canal path have any half dimes,or are there any older/ deeper coins where I just used the UMax.?.So, I borrowed a 1266 X, the chiggers are still up.They got me quite nicely the other day..Think I'll make a sling, the Fisher can wear me out in deep grass..Have decided to use the 1266 and figure out what model I want to buy..There are only 86 pages of Posts in the Fisher forum, and I can ask 86 pages worth of questions..Cordially NAD

Nad - you can't go wrong with the 1266-X. I have been using it for a great number of years now and love it. It will find deep targets but it does get heavy after a while. good luck and HH.

It's a shame they quit making them - they are that good. I hope I can find anoother one day soon.

Here's a link to some good tips for the 1266-X... a great detector:
