Solar Charger
This 12-watt foldable solar charger will charge a full set of eight (:geek: AA batteries.
PN 1624700

Unfortunately this is available to the military ONLY!

I found it or a very similar one on e-Bay for $949.99 (accessory pack additional). For that price I would walk back to my car and use the car's battery.

Sunlinq Portable Solar & Charger 62 W 12V or 24V Military Grade Lightweight

I would assume for reading you would plug the charger that came with the ATX into this pad (or something in the accessory pack) and then charge all 8 NiMH batteries at one time.

You donot need a monster solar panel to charge a set of ATX or Infinium batteries.
I have used one similar to this and it works fine. Not much good on cloudy days though.

How many batteries do you charge at a time and how long does the charge take? What charger do you use, the one supplied with the ATX?

The Garrett charger does not have a Watt rating on it, but doing the math (I x E) it should be 20.4W, a 12V 1.7amp input. The panel you refer to only supplies .5amps (500mA - 8.5W) and I do not believe it would power a fully loaded 8 cell ATX charger.

The solar mat I referred to is an overkill at 62W but was the first one I located, After finding a more product information at a Sunlinq distributor's website (http://ez-battery.com/product-category/sunlinq/)/ I see that Sunlinq does make 7 units the one on the link is the Sunlinq7.

The Sunlinq4, a 12W unit, will charge 4AA batteries in 2-3 hours with good sunlight, per the literature and sells for $185 US.

The Sunlinq5, a 25W unit, more closely resembles the one Garrett offers to the military and sells for about $380 US.The Sulinq5 should power the 8AA cell Garrett charger.

John,

What was the approximate price range?

Thanks,
