Soil varieties

Around here we have , like others I suppose, a variety of soils. It goes from loam, to sugar sand to red clay. The depth of each can vary greatly between the varieties. My question regards ground balancing. Just an example, what if I'm in an area where the sugar sand covers the red clay by only 1-3 inches how will the detector interpret the soil conditions. By the sand or clay. depending on depth of each soil. Will it balance on the shallow sand or the deep clay?

It will balance on an average of what is in the detection field, which will vary depending on coil size, coil configuration, and frequency selected.

Thank you sir. It just made me wonder.
