Soil build up vs. years ratio

Hi guys, I'm going to go pick up my Ace 250 tomorrow night, I can't wait!! I sure am thankful for your'alls help on picking out a metal detector. I have another question that I can't find on the internet. What's the ratio on soil build up vs. years? I know it'd be more in wooded areas. A ball park figure would be helpful. I'm guessing....6 inches per 100 yrs. Is this close?

Thanks again & see ya on the turf Saturday. :garrett: :yo:

Joe,

Soil build up is much faster in open grasslands than wooded areas. That is why the great plains had deep black soil, but many of the forested areas that were cut down were only good for farming for a short while. Usually coins are much shallower in areas that had lots of tree cover.

I've heard 4-6 per century is about average

I would imagine there is a different ratio for ever type of soil. An object is not apt to settle as deep in clay as in sand, etc. So, with that in mind I don't know if there is a common ratio?
