Software upgrades?

I wonder why Minelab has not made any software upgrades for the last 3 years for the CTX? Is it really that difficult or time consuming for them? Why wouldn't they want to satisfy their costumers? There has been so many threads about upgrades and request from the customers. I for one would love to have the volume louder for underwater usage and I know that I am not the only one. I have read many other request for upgrades, some valid and some are just changing the bells and whistles but if customers are getting frustrated and selling their units or going to other brands, why wouldn't Minelab do something about it?

Gees Scoop;

I was just thinking the same thing. Especially since they have found the time to release 5 new machines. The programming to implement several of the many suggested changes would not be difficult at all as I see it. I am very familiar with the ARM-I-II processor architectures, data flows & capabilities! I've worked with them quite a bit during my time as a computer engineer. But why wouldn't Minelab take the time to do something like providing a few of the most frequently requested updates or additions. Oh yes I forgot, they already have our money! Get it?

I seriously doubt CTX users are selling their machines and changes brands because of a lack of firmware updates. Some prefer a lighter detector, some prefer a cheaper detector and don't feel the cost is commensurate with the performance. However, the VAST majority of owners lover their CTX. Sure it would be nice to see some program updates but I'm not tossing away the best silver sniffer I've owned in 32 years over it!

Lol

don't be so sure on people selling the machines because the volume is weak lot of 2nd hand ones coming up and well to raise the volume is not a big ask is it really? when the future of detecting is getting left behind with its poor volume for its big selling point an under water machine that people can not hear beep underwater without passing out from holding their breath is pretty useless isn't it.

sure minelab need to address this issue asap as its getting a lot of bad press and buyers are heading else where.

The simple fact of the matter is that updates are free and new detectors aren't.

Why should Minelab put any of their engineers to work developing upgrades when they could be putting those same engineers to work developing new machines that sell for big dollars?
Why should Minelab upgrade their old machines when doing upgrades encourages people to keep their old machines and not buy new big dollar machines?

And, on the subject of poorly made Minelab parts:
Why should Minelab offer free fixes for some of the quality issues that we hear about on these forums. When, offering free fixes costs Minelab money and encourages people to keep their old machines and not upgrade to another machine?

It's all a matter of money folks.

yes it is and minelab have bought back gpx 4500 at a real cheap price compared to its 1st run around, lowering the price of 2nd hand machines, axed the 305 dropped prices on the other 2 xterras .bought out some plastic toys go find :rofl:

what does that say? they are struggling to make money off the high end machines gpz7000 was a flop and at 10 K for a machine they didn't see that coming :clapping:

rumours are codan are bailing and so we have a company pretending the be the best on the surface like a duck they are paddling like hell underwater plus use the pun its free.

so once my ctx is past its use by date it will be my last minelab unless a company with some scruples picks up the sinking ship again pun intended :lmfao:
