Sodom and Gomorrah - New Orleans?

This was sent to me by Sherry. Very interesting read:

HURRICANE KATRINA DESTROYS NEW ORLEANS
DAYS BEFORE "SOUTHERN DECADENCE" 8/31/05

PHILADELPHIA - Just days before "Southern Decadence", an annual homosexual celebration attracting tens of thousands of people to the French Quarters section of New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina destroys the city.

"Southern Decadence" has a history of filling the French Quarters section of the city with drunken homosexuals engaging in sex acts in the public streets and bars. Last year, a local pastor sent video footage of sex acts being performed in front of police to the mayor, city council, and the media. City officials simply ignored the footage and continued to welcome and praise the weeklong celebration as being an "exciting event". However, Hurricane Katrina has put an end to the annual celebration of sin.

On the official "Southern Decadence" website (www.SouthernDecadence.com), it states that the annual event brought in "125,000 revelers" to New Orleans last year, increasing by thousands each year, and up from "over 50,000 revelers" in 1997. This year

in another post! God will only tolerate sin for so long and then He allows a nation to be judged and brought down! Nations or cities are judged now, people are judged later, although they will find the trials harder to bear without Jesus as their own personal Savior!

I prayed concerning the hurricane and it did have a puff of wind that sent it eastward of the city of New Orleans or it would have been a category 5 and hit the city dead center in full force! I believe this was because of our prayers and many others and even the members of a church that was in the middle of all that sinfulness trying to bring light into the darkness!

They have parades in the city, here, and the mayor, fire chief and etc welcomed the homosexuals with gladness and ran off those who would give them all the real truth of honoring God and not mocking him, so who knows, it could happen here by tornadoes, fires or whatever! Mock God and people will suffer for it, because He will not always strive with man!

Even the Israelites got fat and lazy and forgot God until disaster fell and they were enslaved by other nations! Forgive us Lord and have mercy on our souls! Amen!

God Bless!
Betty

To say that God wiped out New Orleans because it accepted "sin" in the form of homosexual gatherings, mardis gras, etc. kind a rubs me the wrong way. Is New Orleans the sin capitol of the world? What about New York, LA, Vegas... you could go on and on... Heck, what goes on behind closed doors on the block where you live? What goes on behind OUR doors?

Seems to me, if God wanted to make a point, He would have waited for the "SOUTHERN DECADENCE" festival or whatever it is, to START. I looked it up and believe it or not it's something that's been going on for 34 years.

I'm not saying we should be wishy-washy about the Gospel and the consequences of dying without knowing Christ as Savior, but I think the person from the Repent America site could have been a bit more compassionate. Pointing fingers and judging people now, at a time when they're most in need of help and prayer, is just not right in my book. What better way to introduce people to Christ than to let them see Him in our eyes, actions and deeds. Certainly not in condemnation.

There's always talk about how wicked this country is. Some people / organizations will even do everything they can to impose their Christian morals / values on others; even down to changing laws. People don't change hearts. Laws don't change people's hearts. Christ does.

Help win people to Christ. He changes hearts and lives.

Hate the sin but love the sinner.

Not saying New Orleans is or was as sinfilled as Sodom or Gomorrah was. You are right there are other places much worse. Thailand has been known - especially Bankok for its sinfulness in many ways. Is it a coincidence that the Tsunami disrupted the normal state of sinfulness there? I can only guess. I am not in control of anything - God is. I can't say I am happy about the prices of gas going up and the results that it alone can have on food prices and other commodoties or even how some companies may have to lay off people even more now to keep the bottom line in the black. But whatever the reason let Hod be glorified through this.

You made some good points Joe and I appreciate what you are saying.

I agree with the article and what alot has been said.

To understand what is going on you need to be very aware of the history of America and Biblical understanding of it. America has definatly shoved God out of the picture...even our modern churches have shut him out and replaced him with entertainment and their own lusts for pleasure. BUT that is the way Revelation says it would be in the last days when everybody is lukewarm and Jesus is standing on the outside knocking "Behold I stand at the door and knock". It's not a message of salvation as it is often preached...it's a message of the end days. "In the last days perilous times shall come" and you have several lists of the ways man kind will be in the last days. Things are only going to get worse. If you believe your Bible you can count on it.

It's not just certain cities in America...it's America as a whole. But if you want to get specific...the sinful cities of San Francisco and Hollywood itself, known for their openness towards homosexuality and pornography...have been exposed to countless fires, earthquakes, water shortages. You name it. Chicago's big fire. And if you really want to get extreme with some ideas, you have the New York and Washington D.C. running abound with sin and decision making that were brought to their knees. I would find it hard to swallow that God would use unbelieving blasphemers to bring the message across but who knows.

The main problem that people have accepting in modern Christianity is the God of Just. Neo-evangelicism preaches just the God of Love...such as the "God loves you and has a great plan for you". They don't preach the Just and Almighty God of wrath and love. You see the ultimate love was shown at calvary on the cross. No greater love has man known. For Him, it is an unconditional love....no matter what we've done or whatever, he loved us enough he went to the cross for us, and in three days arose. But for US, it is up to US to decide whether we accept him or deny him. To deny him is to basically slap him in the face and say "I don't care, I can take care of my own self". Thus why in the end at the White Throne judgement they will stand accountable for that denyance and be cast into the ETERNAL lake of fire, called Hell. But neo-evangelicsm wants to leave that part out. It cannot be left out. God is a Just God and if you are truely one of His and out of His will and you don't heed to the warnings...he'll take you Home because you are a vessel of dishonour to him. But for those that do mauk him and deny him....he has always had ways to bring people down too. Grace to the humble and law to the proud.

I found it very interesting on the news they were talking about the casinos in Biloxi and New Orleans where they said that one strip of them was entirely gone. And a note about the earthquakes in California. It might just be a coincidence but the fact that they happened to build the studios where about 80% of pornography is filmed on top of one of the larger fault lines in the western US...lol...well look out.

I aggree with most of what you have said but:

The real issue is not whether God did it, or allowed it. The real issue is that
God has already past tense judged sin by his Word (Bible).

Now, if we as a people ignore His Word, and choose to go our own ways and live
our lives in rebellion against God (sin), then we will reap the consequences of
that living. It is a basic principal going way back to Genesis, and continues
thru the New Testament to present day. The basic principal is: Obey God and
blessings follow, Live for self and sinful lifes pleasures, and judgement is
at the door. The Mercy of God many times stops it from happening imediately,
(space of time for repentance, how about 34 years?), but the judgement has
already been done long time ago. The problem is people get on the wrong side of
that existing judgement.

Do we as Christians show compassion? YES! Do we tell people the truth? Definately.
and repentance is a huge part of the gospel message.

And those are my thoughts . . .

Hi Betty: You are 100% right. Sin always has consequences, and, further all
sin (public & private) affects those around us.

You Are Blessed . . .

Grace & Peace . . .
