Sod cutting knifes.....Trying to get ready.......

Now that Spring is closing in on us, I've been thinking about sod cutting tools.

Hunting knifes are OK, but I don't use mine much.

I was thinking if I had something that would cut better, I might be able to save some time.

I found a thick bladed cutlery knife that is a one piece (except for tacked on grips) forged stainless steel. Very strong. $7 on sale.

I rounded the point, marked it off in inches and serrated the edge with a grinder.

Here's some knifes. The one I modified is on the left. What do you think?

Will it work:shrug:

Happy Hunting,

I just bought one of these and used it in a park that has super thick, tough grass:

It works pretty well, and has a lifetime warranty. I would like to sharpen the tip, it would work even better. My only complaint is the top is made for hammering, but it's not very comfortable when your wailing away trying to get leverage, if it was rounded it would be perfect.

Their about $12 at Lowes/Home Depot.

I have thought many times about buying that tool.

I'm going to have to give it a try.

Didn't know that about the handle though.

The knife concept for me is as a sod cutter.

Limited use only. Time saver in manicured lawns.

Not for digging and wailing.

I use both those types of tools.

I like to come up with ways to speed up recovery time with less effort.

Thanks for the pic,
