Soccer Field

Well, I finally covered the soccer field (sideline to sideline and goalpost to goalpost),,, The first time there, the groundskeeper told me that the field was reserved for the little pre-teen girls to play on and that I might do better in one of the other fields in the complex,,,Well, I had a small amount of change in my pocket already and decided to search the rest of the field,,,Glad I did,,,total take for the field was,,,33 Quarters, 20 Dimes, 10 nickels, 43 pennies, 4 keys, Butterfly pendant, and 2 rings. One of the rings was a real nice sterling silver Irish good luck ring,,, Looking forward to searching the rest of the complex with my MXT and Bigfoot coil,,, HH /... Lon

Amazing how well those fields can pay off. When people are sitting on the sidelines, you can bet some pockets will empty. I bet you were smilin .

the majority of the goodies?
I am assuming the sidelines brought the most. I am curious though if you found anything in the field and if so was the majority of that near the goal's?
So would you say 80% or more was sidelines, etc...
Thanks & congrats on a nice haul! Fields like that make this a funner hobby. And yes,,, funner should be a word associated with metal detecting and in our vocabulary...

I did not look outside of the lines of the field,,,I looked line to line and not on the sidelines nor behind the goalpost,,,everything seemed to be dispersed throughout the entire field with no one spot being the hot-spot,,,,I suppose that I should go back and walk around the perimeter of the field on the sidelines,,,isn't it odd that there would be so much change on the field itself?,,,
There is a whole complex of soccer fields,,, at least eight fields to cover,,, will take them one at a time, but with summer coming on, there will be a lot of activity there and I do have other sites that need to be explored,,,,,,HH.... Lon

Makes sense to me ,,, I will go around the sidelines and see what I can find. Thanks for the tip,,,HH Lon

Lon,
If you ever watch those fields when they are in use you will see parents and friends sitting about 2-3 feet behind the chalk lines spread out from center line evenly towards the goal. Rarely will these folks be sitting directly at each goal, they usually disperse evenly from center field. This is were I usually find the bulk of the change and jewelry.
I have found coins directly in front of each goal and sometimes within the goal itself. If you are finding coins within the soccer field itself it is a good indication it is used by a school, etc. Then the students congregate at a specific part of the field to discuss the days activites, etc.
That is why I was curious as to were you found the bulk of your coins. If you found that many in the field I would assume you would find even more on the sidelines close to center field.
If you do I want a % of the cut....
