We went from ground like concrete in July to saturation over the past month. In early July I I figured the old scout camp we had been hitting was about played out. It took just over two hours to find one coin (41 quarter) which I found when I was on my way out. Since that time and with the help of lots of rain, I've picked up five more silver and 1 buff. I'm guessing the area has produced about 30 more coins the last five trips.
On Saturday (7-24), I dug for about 2 1/2 hours. Picked up 6 coins, 1 Lincoln, five wheats and 1954 dime. All were 3 to 5 inches, ground was moist all the way down. Interesting in that all but one of the coins were 1954 and older and all deep. Shows what a good soaking will do.
Need to get back to work but will talk about the trip from hell. If my secretary catches me goofing off on the computer, you'll see an asterisk by my name.
