First day out with the CTX 3030 impressed me. I sold my E-TRAC the next day and haven't looked back. The more that I learn this machine, the more I like it. Time is very important with a detector like this. It is relatively easy to react to a response of the detector when it is "cut and dry" but the advancement really comes when you personally start to decipher what the detector is trying to tell you, actually going beyond what is written. In all honesty, I expect for myself, hundreds of hours, before I can say I am familiar with the CTX 3030. Best to all, Richard
Well this is the first machine i can hit 8 to 10 inches in my ground and the exp 2 could not wouldn't run as hot in my soil the separation is what i want in a machine and this one dose it the best more imfo and much faster than the exp 2 in iron it real shines.
I get more impressed with every outing. I'm just starting to settle into a couple of set-ups, now if I could only nail down the tones closer to the Etrac I would be happy. I also just received (Friday) the 6 inch coil and can not wait to try it in the trash.
Its crazy good at locking on good targets amongst trash. I would venture to say ... The best. My other detectors null while the CTX offers up good repeatable tones and a display that shows ferrous/ non-ferrous values in real time. Insane in the trash. Absolutely insane.
I got my CTX the first week of June and it is my very first Minelab and not it is my main detector. I use it on land and in the water it is a AWESOME detector.
For me personally I never could get the hang of the etrac. I found good stuff, but I struggled with it. I had trouble with the tones sometimes. I actually usually hunted in 2 tone ferrous. But the CTX I can make my own tones. In my area the CTX runs a higher sensitivity than I could ever get with the etrac. And smooth as silk! Finding stuff I have pounded with the Etrac and many firsts. I love this detector
I have been hunting this place since the late 80's and the stuff is really deep. I have two videos on my phone if I can figure out how to get them off digging Minnie balls at measured 14" with the CTX.
I have used the White's V3i in there the most in the last year and my average was 11-13 targets in 2 1/2 hours. Sunday I actually was not doing as well at first then discovered I had Fast on and deep on and I went in and unchecked fast and the ground lit up with deep targets.
I ended up with 16 bullets, some percussion caps, melted lead and misc. 22 bullets, and modern bullets.
To give some contrast I went in there today with a Fisher F75 and the EMI was so bad I dug one percussion cap in an hour.
My CTX I was able to run at manual sensitivity of 28 out of 30 and it was smooth with a occasional chirping but that is the way I hunt.
The V3i I could only run in the middle frequency and a friend was using his old DMC 2 Nautilus and he had to turn it down to minimum sensitivity, he said it is an underground powerline, not sure but near a railroad track.
I am just learning this machine and it is kicking butt at this spot. Can't wait till I really learn what it can do. Hope to find the time to post my 4 hunts in there with it soon.
I absolutely love it. I can go for hours without arm or back fatigue because of the light weight and how the weight of the ctx is distributed. This detector really impresses me on the depth and how well it locks on targets...I'm hooked on this machine and can't imagine using anything thing else.
I am so glad I sold my etrac a got the ctx, I'm hitting 9 inch dimes in auto sensitivity which was near impossible with my etrac in my dirt, I am finding also that I can tell the difference between a copper penny and a silver dime because the TID is a lot more stable
