So the Sand ?

Well-known member
Got a modest rental right on the Gulf Coast. Just had 2-3 days of high, cold wind. So looking out, could actually see sand being blown in from the west. Now everything in front of me covered up by 4" to maybe even a foot of drifted sand. So it had to come from somewhere. Somewhere has to have lost this sand. Gulf still too rough for me to wade. So gonna look for some exposed beach to the west today. Sand had to be blown in from somewhere. Any you ole Beach hunters got a idea on this?

Good Luck! I was out the other day and sand every where here also but keep looking....

In my limited saltwater beach hunting experience i find a beach hunters most important tool is a car to keep movin on to beach that looks better than the last one...good luck and hope you find the pot of gold....

Theres a lot of beach so that really isnt much sand in the scheme of things. The beaches have been flattened by rain a lot this winter and even the tractors cant keep them fluffed. But......that packing does give you more depth because you can keep the coil on the flat sand better. Weather hasnt allowed the normal crowds much beach time either...... so hit the hot spots and just below the high tide lines or above the water line.

Found some beach entries that were wind blown. Picked up some easy change.
Next day different beach. Volleyball court sanded in even I (67) could could spike the ball over. Public beach entry had a 4' drift at the end of it. Gulf still too rough for us elderly's.

Hang in there Dancer, the Central Florida East coast is not any better. The sand seems to keep piling up here too. The winds this past week have been howling, mostly out of the north until today.. I was hoping for some badly needed erosion, but no luck. Understand Dancer that the whole Florida peninsula is sand. People call it dirt, but it is sand, so it can blow in from anywhere and does. Hope you have better luck in the days to come.
