Hi, all::detecting:

Got some rain this weekend and went yard hunting. A retired doctor from my church gave me permission to hunt his Victoian house yard. It's quite a large yard, so I only was able to do half of it today. I wasn't there but twenty minutes when I got a solid signal that read 83 to 84 on the meter. I was running in De mode, sens. at 75 , disc at 5 with 3H tones. A very quiet setting. At about six inches I fond this lovely 1915 D Barber half. I also found a silver ring and three wheat pennies, as well as a sports medal. One wheatie was a 1912 D, worth $6.00 in the red book. Hope to finish the yard tomorrow. Now I know what a silver half dollar sounds like and reads in the ground.

Thanks for looking and keep on diggin'

Terrific finds. I love the half. I've found one, a walker, with the f75 using your exact settings. Mine was also 6" and on edge, but it locked on 90. Bet there are a few other goodies in that wonderful yard. Nice job! HH jim tn

Congrats on the Barber Half it is nice. I would have thought that it would hit higher, for me Quarters and Large Cents come in at around 83-84. I have not dug a half with the F75. I assume that different conditions could make it read different, perhaps it was a little on edge. What does everyone else think as to why it hit there.....................Lee

Thanks for your comments, guys. Quarters for me hit 81-82. Ground conditions may have an effect. When I Fastgrab, my reading is 59-60 in general. This is only my third Barber Half in twelve years of serious hunting. For me, they have been hard to find. They are a beautiful coin, although the Walking Liberty Half is one of my favorites.

I revisited the yard today and found a 1904O quarter. Now I know what a silver quarter sounds like, as well. :clapping:Read 82-83 at five inches.
