So Speaking of Platinum.... What does it sound like on the Excalibur?

I know somebody here has found a platinum ring using the Excal...

Is it a low tone like gold or what??

Just didn't want to pass up any Plat rings this summer:blink:

Platinum has a tone similar to 22k gold but deeper and throatier. If you hear that tone, Dig It! You'll be Happy you did.

Morris, What kind of headphones do you have on your Excal? Mine are the older blue headphones and I don't like them because the sound isn't as clear as it should be. Different headphones, different volume settings (I usually run mine around 3/4) and possibly different ring shape could be a factor in why we are hearing different tones. I have a picture below that shows the three rings I tested before I posted my reply, you can see that the 22k is very fat and of a smaller diameter than the Plat ring and the Plat Diana ring. I also checked the Plat band against 10k, 14k and 18k yellow gold rings of comparable diameter and the plat always came in deeper and throatier.

The fat yellow gold band in the middle with the little cardaugh gold resting on it is 22k yellow and it sounds similar to the Plat band in the front right of the picture. The Plat Diana ring on the left is 18k yellow with Plat inlay and also sounds similar to each of the previous rings but somewhere in the middle, tone wise.

I find it wierd that we would get very different tones for the same material, there must be some kind of logical explanation. Do me a favor and test your ring again when you get a chance and let me know.

Thanks,

BDA:cool:
