So let me get this straight...if I'm looking for Indian Heads....

On my XLT IH's ring up as "screwcap/penny" every time. Every time I get this signal, I dig. Hope this helps.

Due to their metal make-up, Indian Head cents with 'read' lower than a good newer copper penny or dime. They fall into a conductivity range that is similar to the current US zinc cent or screw caps (which can read the same or a bit lower than a zinc cent) depending upon their condition, the ground challenges, their depth and position, etc.

Basically you have two types and because of mettalic makeup the newer ones fall into the screwtop range and the older ones can go as low as square pulltabs..Do some airtesting with an early version and the newer version and you will find they cover a large range of numbers due to depth, position in the ground and above all their condition...
