And it hurt. Waited for a damp chilly morning to hunt around this Elementary school. It's usually good at least for a little bling and clad. Hunting behind a basketball hoop got a fairly solid 50 hit. Dug a plug, up came a gold chain (damaged) probed the hole again, came up with the other half. Pretty muddy, wiped off the clasp, 14K. Italy. I was about ready to quit anyway, so I said "Thats it, head for the barn"! Got home, rinsed it off some, weighed it at 15.5 grams. Sweet melt value over $300. Started cleaning it better, noticed something wasn't right. 14K alright, 14K plated ! What a curve it was. The tide comes in, it goes back out again. That's 2 plated rings and now this chain against 1 honest 14k ring for the year.

Sorry for your loss. Know how you feel. In the last five years or so have dug 2 gold chains marked 14k Italy and both were plated crap. Both were big links and heavy. Should have been a tip off, I guess. Go get it, Dancer, there is a real one out there for you. HH jim tn

Yeah Jim, ever see the chains worn by some of those football players when interviewed. Imagine dragging one of those up?
