So far My Xterra 305 is every bit as good as My Xterra70

Well ive been using both machines on and off and can say the Xterra 305 is a dam good machine. Works real similer to the Xterra 70. Seems numeric id is a little more stable on the 305 than the 70. Perhaps that was one of the updates on the machines. Of corse the xterra 70 has a few more bells and whistles but so far ive had better finds with the 305. Also they made the speaker volume a bit louder on the 305 than the 70. As far as depth the 70 might be slighlty deeper but not much. The 305s depth is good. Also the xterra 70 seems to like pennys a bit more than the 305. But the 305 likes quarters slighlty more. So if your looken for a fair priced awesome machine i recomend the Xterra 305. So far has been a champ 3 rings and plenty of coins especially quarters .I think i might even like it more than my Xterra 70.

A few folk underestimate the 305. I've only just sold my 30 last week after having it for 3.5 years. I was very impressed with it's performance. but will be spending the next few years playing with the 70 now and will consider updating it when the next model comes out. Might get the 505's replacement next time though.
The bottom line is, that I don't think the the 305 will miss much that the 705 can't find.

I think the 305 is the best buy on the market right now. The ID stability is probably due to a wider ID range on the 305. More targets that ID close together will lock on with the 305. The 70 simply has more choices to make.

Ya the 305 is great smooth and love the more stable ids. Finds the good too. No need for the higher end Xterras with this 305.It hits quarters hard loves them.Dam good machine for the money its like the xterra 50 but better for less money .

With the addition of an adjustible threshold, adjustible gorund balance and multiple tone capabilities, the 305 is an excellent choice. If you don't need or want the audio nuances provided by the 3 kHz coil, or if you don't size or shape your targets with Prospecting mode, the 305 will do just about everything you'd want a detector to do! And very well, I might add!!! HH Randy
