First 2008 hunt got me some goodies. It was supposed to get up to zero, but that never happened. It was a nice day for a hunt non the less. :)

Go figure....you hunt near a skating ring where kids play hockey, and you are bound to find a hockey puck. Here is the loot, junk and jewelry found today.

"What ID's As A Coin Is Not Always A Coin....." This bracelet was found down a couple of inches in the sand. Its from Mexico....a place that I would love to be. Inside is a stamp "ALPACA" which is also called German Silver or nickel silver. It is often confused with silver, often made in Mexico, and made of mostly copper with nickel, zinc and tin .... but it has some beautiful inlay of mother pearl. My daughter fell in love with it, so, mother like daughter, she gets to keep it.

Below is sunset in Edmonton....just in time to order a nice hot pizza!

Pretty sweet John. You are (or should be) an inspiration to others who live in the cold / snow country. You prove that the cold of winter is no excuse not to get out. You da man. BTW, I'll bet your daughter just loves her new bracelet.

And that is to run a seeded hunt up here in the middle of winter. It would be fun, challenging and frigg'n cold. It would also be a test to see how different metal detectors handle the cold. All my Garretts have performed good in the cold. The GTA 500 screen would slow down, but it never froze. After I bought my GTI 1500, the GTA 500 was my main winter machine. I used it for years,,,,without any problem or hot pacs. I now use the ACE or Master Hunter CX with a hot pack, and again....no problems. I have heard so many people state that Garretts are built tough. I would have to agree on that one.

But back to the hunt..... maybe one of these years. I would have to gather a bunch of local, national and maybe even international sponsors to pull it off. I had helped to run a number of hot air balloon races tears ago, so I have got some experience with running events. Heck....these things always start out as an idea, then a dream and then well ...maybe a hunt. :)

Great pics John,
Great hunting as well. That windchill factor has me shivering.
I'm sure your daughter will be really chuffed with her new bracelet.
Best wishes for 2008.
:goodnight:

I used to organize keg party's "back in the day". Maybe I could help:shrug:

I think John has antifreeze for blood. Bet if you prick him he bleeds green. They must have a different kind of cold up there.

I said it before and I'll say it again right now. You are a madman!

As always, beautiful photos. (I've said that before too.)
