sniper coil vs. dd coil ?

I hunted a couple large lots today...used the sniper coil on the 3d0....I did aweful...plus I rarelt got that nice bell tone of ding ding ding.....it was more like ding.........ding.........ding.....and many times I dug my plug and my signal went awat....am I doin somethin wrong ? Shud I only use the sniper in tot lots parks and old homes ? And stick with the dd coil all the other times ? Tany help wud be appreciated. Thx
 
Push and hold power button until you hear a double beep, did you test it with a coin
 
That will reset the detector hope it helps
 
The Sniper is usually too small for open fields, unless your wading through a ton of trash and want to go slow and only do a very small area at a time...
The key to the sniper is low and SLOW...I mean SLOW...you need to really slow yourself down and have a lot of patience with this coil...You also do NOT need to set your SENS very high...about half of what you normally use...Your not going for depth...Your going for small items and target separation...
