Sniffed out an old "Greenie" and a Seated dime.:super:

Been very busy helping my father through his kidney dialysis learning process... so no traveling...no new spots...and very little hunt time to take advantage of.

He has been to the emergency room twice in the last 2 weeks and was hospitalized for 2 days last week because of dehydration:confused:...but things seem to be smoothing out now....I HOPE.

I plan on spending all the time I can with dad...especially when he starts the IN-home dialysis in 2 weeks...so my hunt time will continue to be limited...but pops comes first.

I finished all the mowing and had from 3:00 to dark to hunt.

How'd it end up??...5 hours for only 3 coins...errr I mean 2 coins. We don't need to count the 1986 clad quarter at 9".:smoke:

I hit the old faithful spot I call "the Injun' Patch" which I hammered very hard while I was going through the loss of my mom a couple years ago.

The last 2 trips here produced nothing...but I just love the place because of all the nice oldies I have pulled from here.

I decided to take the E-Trac for a spin as well as my SE to try and stay sharp on both.

I'd like to tell you that the 1864 Injun' came from about 10" down...but that's not how I roll:smoke:

Fact of the matter is that I dug to china for what I would have bet money was a seated quarter at 9"+...only to find the 1986 quarter in obvious fill dirt!!:clapping:

Less than 10 feet away I get a squeaker "iffy" hit with the my E-Trac. It hit from only one direction but did repeat on both the initial sweep as well as the return sweep.

Numbers were not much help bouncing from 1-2 ferrous and 30-31 conductive.

Sounded like a deep injun' hit but wasn't showing as such on the depth meter. I thought what the heck..so I started digging.

From ONLY 6" down...but standing straight up comes this smooth dark green disc...WITH a faint date of 1864.

WOW...a 1986 quarter from 9"...then a 144 year old coin 10 feet away from 6" deep and standing at attention.

An hour or so later I decided to hunt with the SE.

It took a while but I finally got another decent hit. The cursor was dancing and fluttering from top right...then did the moon walk accross the top from right to center. . The faint warble was there though which is ALL I care about...and it repeated from 2 of 4 passes...so again I dug.

From between 9" to 10" down came the seated dime.

Sorry for the "before cleaning" only pics...but these two critters are gonna' need to soak for a few days because of the heavy crust and tarnish on the seated dime. I can see it's an 1870's...but am not going to rub it and scratch it to see the year...so the "dirty" pics are gonna' have to do.

I LOVE finding silver and injuns'...and I don't care if it is a 1964 Roosey....silver is SILVER.

I gotta' be honest though and here is the flipside to that statement...I'd rather get skunked 5 hunts in a row..as a trade off to pop something like this out.

I'm telling you honest...the sites I hunt are pounded beyond imagination. When I say I can wander for 3 or 4 hours and not even get an iffy signal to dig...it's the truth.

I have probably walked over that injun 20 times in the last few years and dismissed it as clad because of the depth..or the goofy sound it gave me..

The Minelabs are just simply amazing with what they continue to produce from seriously pounded sites.

Glad to hear your dad is hanging in there. Lifestyle changes like that are tough.

Also glad to hear you are getting out for a few hours here and there to clear your mind. It helps relieve the stress.

Best wishes to your dad.

Bryce,
I hope your Dad continues to adjust and settle into his new lifestyle. It's a tough thing to go through, but I have a feeling your Dad's pretty tough too.

Good luck to you guys and hang in there. Try to get out swinging when time allows -- it's good therapy. Nice digs, BTW.

Take care, Bud.

WTG Bryce !!!!! Glad you got out to hunt , Don't you love digging clad at 6 to 9 " that sucks but gets your heart pumping . I am glad your Dad is doing better and a hunt with the XLT might help. I will talk to this week.

Glad your dad is settling in with the dialysis Bryce....'cus the dehydration
for some reason seems to go hand-in-hand with the process. Same with
my Mom. Congrats on the coins you found with the SE and the E-trac....
Can't wait to see the date on the Seated and the IH clearly. I totally agree
with your very last statement in your post......the Minelabs are awesome
machines and will find silver at tremendous depths.....in pounded sites.

Great hunt Bryce! Hope your dad gets to feeling better so he can join your hunts again. Having been a nurse for 10 years I have seen the toll that dialysis can take on a person. If you ever have any questions or need some support drop me a line.

Way to go Bryce. Nice finds. One of these days maybe I will get out again.
Say hello to your dad for me.
Roy

Bryce, are you using the 8' Stealth coil mostly still? I have had my Explorer Se for 3 weeks now and still trying to get the hang of it. I am using the 11' stock coil and ordering a 8" Stealth. I'm mostly a Fisher and Whites guy and I and finding this machine very challenging to learn to say the least. I am reading Andys Minelab Handbook. It seems to be helping.
Thanks,
Aaron

Two very nice coins rescued from the deep, awesome finds buddy :yikes:

WTG on the saves my man. You are a well tuned in hunter.
Give my thoughts and wishes to your dad for a steady and sure dialysis time.

town and city parks.

I would say some of them are as small as 2 acres...and I know of one that is 40 acres. It just varies.

I hunt like you. My saying is "Just one old coin". Go to old places with real potential. Sometimes come away with no coins. Sometimes.

My best to you and your Dad.

wtg on youe old coins bryce.
I have viewed your test reports on the sunrays and other coils. Do you use your wot coil much anymore?
I didnt like iut at first becxause itwas very noisy but I think I am more used to my detectoir now.
Im thinking of taking iton a hunt to see if I am able to deal with a larger coil. What do you think.

Glad to see you are still at it my man!! Keep up the great finds!

an excellent coil IF you are ready to deal with many MORE targets under the coil.

If you have enough time on your machine...I'd say give it a shot.

If all the sounds overwhelm you...just pop it off and put a smaller coil on until you have more time to learn it.

Please realize though that when and if you DO put a bigger coil on...not just a 15" WOT...that you will hear many more sounds blended together and more info for you to process as well as for the coil to...so it takes some getting used to.
