Snapshot function

Just got my ctx back from minelab . They put a new control module in. When I pushed the user button and scrolled to the end of the list there was a function called "snapshot". Does anyone know what that is. It was not on the machine prior to sending it it for repair. Appreciate any feedback

Snapshot allows you to capture actual screenshots of your CTX 3030 screen and save them to a computer via a USB cable. XChange 2 is not required for this. If you are detecting or testing the CTX 3030 for a field test or something like that, it allows you to record what your screen displayed at the time the Snapshot was taken and this applies to the detect screens, GPS and menu screens.

It was always there...even B4 you returned your machine.

It is a great tool for capturing screen shots showing information you might find interesting but has a flaw.
The machine cannot be switched off as then the info will be lost. It's more for 'air testing' at home but the screen shots can be uploaded to your PC and e-mailed to others to show "screen grabs" that might be interesting.

Thanks for the info. The reason I didn't think snapshot was on my machine is the manual I received when I got the ctx only shows 9 functions with description, now it has 10 "Snapshot" being the tenth with no explanation of this function. I did install the latest update yesterday, maybe it is a feature that was offered when the machines first came out. I've had my ctx for about 3 yrs.

Here's more on that 'Snapshot' function.

You're right. It's not well explained at all. It's "shown" in the manual as [ part of ] a Menu choice.
But, also not explained.

It was primarily ' a tool' for us Testers to share information and the designers decided to leave it in the final Version release!

The first is a crazy pattern created using the Discrimination Edit function and this is what I was saying: you could 'show your patterns' to a friend by E Mail. (provided you don't turn the machine off before downloading the .mlf file)

The second shot shows "everything" turned on and what a captured 'snapshot' looks like.
