I'm posting this on more than one forum so I can get a good feed back. For those of you who use them, is there a consensus on which brand(s) and model(s) of snake boots are most worthy of consideration. I live in florida and before I venture beyond beaches and public parks I want to be prepared. I have googled the subject, but would like imput from those with personal experience. Thanks.

I wear Timberland style #33046 when metal detecting, but any type that has full leather covering will be sufficient, and that includes a full leather tongue. The important thing is that their comfortable, and I strongly recommend trying on shoes at your local shoe store before buying, instead of ordering On-line.

If your looking for even more protection, you may want to check out TurtleSkin SnakeArmor Gaiters by Warwick Mills. They are a little expensive though. When I bought mine, I found the best price at Classic Upland Supply Company (classicusc.com). Other brand gaiters are thick and somewhat heavy, don't flex well and can be hot.

I don't recommend snake chaps of any brand. Chaps are the full-leg type, gaiters are below-the-knee type.
