Researched up another site. The (area of the) house and main living area is now under the asphalt like so many other places. However I noticed that there appeared to be a path and a few outbuildings (for unknown reasons) way back behind the house, maybe 1000' or so. So I went to check it out about a week ago for a few hours and I didnt find a single coin. The place is CARPETED with junk! I hate it when places get turned into dumps but I guess the trash truck coming and taking our trash away is a modern convenience. So I went back there, determined that there HAS to be something there. Too much potential to give up on this one. I was wading through the junk, and I got a really sweet repeatable sound, a few inches deep. I unearth the target, and I thought, yes, SILVER! It was the SLQ! with a date that can be read, cool. About 30 minutes later another sweet sound, very shallow, probably junk, I sweep some of the leaves and soft woodsy dirt away with my foot and I see a silver rim! Another silver quarter! Sweet! Then later i had a reading of 12-38 at 4" or so, I thought OK here is finally my first wheatie for this year. I put it in my pocket and when i got home was very suprised that it was a 1906 IH!

So all in all a great day and especially because, after the first coinless trip to this site, I had faith and patience in my research and my detector.

Good luck to you all in the field!

Congratulations-first on your persistence and second on the great finds. A lot of detectorists would have
given up with that much trash. If you continue with that attitude you're going to have a lot of great days ahead!

Great finds - also, your lucky that you found a SLQ with a readable date - the dates are usually not visible on the earlier versions.

Great research, way to go on putting up with the trash to get to the silver. Love that SLQ with the date

a few more finds from another visit to the same site. a seated! (1876 S, very "common" date) it was probably "old" even when it was lost. 1876-1941 at this site so far. gotta love those old abandoned sites. not many coins but all old ones.

Wow...so cool. I am so eager to have this happen. Doing my own scouting and things are starting to come together...now just hope the hunts will find these lovely treasures like yours!! This weather!!! Uggg...I wanted to go out today so badly!! Freaking 37 degrees with freezing rain. Ahhhhhhh!!! But you know it's northeast Ohio probably 80 degrees tomorrow. lol.

CONGRATS!!!!
