Smorgasbord today......................:)

Had a good time today with my detecting buddy Lee. We hit an old park and didn't find much. Lee got a couple of wheaties and some clad. I got a bunch of clad and lots of memorial pennies. After checking my pouch when I got home I discovered I had a 1907 Indian head.........:) I also got a 52 rosie and the Kennedy half dollar. We then went to the old part of town and started hunting this old apartment building yard. Lots of junk, some clad and Lee got a trade token, but I can't remember what it was for. I found a $5 token good for service or merchandise at a place called Batteries & Bands. It must be a watch place. The 25 cent cigar token is kind of interesting, but I couldn't find much about it other than I believe it originated in Detroit Michigan. It was called the Globe Cigar Company. Has anyone ever heard of this place? Let me know if you have. It was a nice labor day and nice to get out. Back to work tomorrow..........:( HH.

I cleaned up that injun up with a soft brush. It was in pretty good condition before I even cleaned it. That cigar token is my third trade token since I have been detecting. I might have to invest in a token guide book at this rate..........:) HH.

Thanks Ocean7. The injun was a surprise, but I like that cigar trade token better. I hope to find out more information on it. I suppose the weather is still pretty rough back there huh? Hope you get out soon. HH.

Wish you could have found more older coins but that is the way it goes sometimes. That Indian sure looks to be in nice shape and Tokens are always nice to find since they are a scarce item. I know what it feels like to go out with great expectations and get very little. I know it sure is getting tougher to locate Silver in my area but with a little luck and research and of course permission, it is out there. I just have to get out and start asking the owners which is getting about due since the Beet Harvest is starting and soon some of the other fields will begin to open up. I hope you have better luck next time there Buddy and I will be looking for your next post and hope to see more nice finds. Good Luck and HH and just don't get discouraged when you are in a slump, always try and think positive because the old finds will come soon enough.

Thanks James. You always have great expectations of finding some nice old silver coins, but it doesn't always happen every time you go detecting. Just getting out is a big part of enjoying this hobby and if you get lucky and find some silver then it's just icing on the cake........:) I have to agree with you that the silver is drying up in most of the places we tend to hunt, but there is plenty of silver left if you can find the right spot. Maybe I will have some stuff to post next week when I get back and good luck to you on your next outing my friend. HH.

I hope to see a few nice keepers on your return trip and will keep you in my thoughts. Good Luck and HH.
