Smokin - Token.....

Tony (NC)

New member
I dug this cigar token the other night after work. It's from the Polk-Gray Drug Co on the Square in Statesville, NC (The town where I work) I haven't gotten a date on the token yet, but the store was built 1885 and it's still standing. It's a sporting goods store now. I also found a slot machine token a parking token and a 1901 IH penny. Here's the pics......

Wonder if they would be smart enough to redeem it?

I swear it seems token collectors pay lots more than coin collectors.........
Very cool find :clapping:

Nice find Tony!

I love finding those older tokens. Unfortunately they are pretty rare around here. Here's a Civil War store token I found a couple years back. Its not exceptionally rare but is in pretty decent shape.[attachment 7689 ames2.jpg][attachment 7691 ames4.jpg]

George B Ames Drug Store, Belvidere, IL

Tom

I love finding tokens like that. I like finding coins, but in most cases you can't determine the history of the coin. Not true with those kinds of tokens. Nice find Tom.
