Have been reading a little in the E-Trac. On the smartfind window, are the settings you set in saved when you cut the machine off? Do you have to tell it not to find a pull tab everytime you cut it back on?
 
There is a difference between settings. You have mode settings, universal settings and preferences.

To keep it simple here, just remember that when you turn off your E-trac, it will remember the last time it was on. If you do a reset or a master reset or go to another mode, unless your settings were saved in the my mode area, those settings will be lost.
