smaller coil

I have heard a lot of guys talk about the 4 X 8" excelerator coil, just wondering where I might beable to find one of these!

Boy you got me silver. I bought a 5" coil from Kellyco and I know they have an 8" minelab and some bigger coils but I don't know what your talking about on that one? Marc Tainor.

Excelerator coils are made for Kellyco. They have a new model out that's 4.5"x7" for $195 I think, but I haven't seen a 4"x8" Excelerator. Maybe another brand?

Marc

with the Quattro, the smaller coil, is 7.5" in diameter. I'm looking at the smaller 5" myself to detect with in places in the dense scrub.

Hey Golden. Maybe I should trade you my 5" excellerator coil for your 7.5 " coil.:devil::| Porbably just kidding on that one. I'm sure your's cost more than mine but, it is great for small places and separates the trash like you couldn't believe. Just don't plan on covering as much ground in any given ammount of time, because it's so small. It's a cute little thing, though, and gee whiz it is Christmas, and.....:crazy::lol: of course I'm playing you on this one. I hope to end up with one of each of all the coils. At least I'd like the 15" coletek coil and probably the one that you have, because I think it could still cover some ground and separate the trash better. I'm even eyeballing that 18" monstrosity they have over at Kellyco. I'll bet that's a real "bad boy" when it comes to depth and ground coverage. Not sure how it would do on small items, but if it worked good on the beach, you could cover a lot of ground in a given time frame.:|

only because I'm concerned about the weight. Both of my wrists have suffered from cupul tunnel sydrome. Probably most of you have heard of it. I got it years ago from upholstering. At one time, it was so bad, I thought I had polio! Anyway, not so bad these days, and with the use of the detector in both hands (I've learned to become amidextrous), my wrist have actually stregthened somewhat. My I don't want to press my luck on that.

Yea, I hear ya Golden. I get that darn tennis elbo sometimes and it really hurts. I had a friend with carpo tunnel and he got operated on and seems to be doing well, but I don't know much about it, other that it can get pretty painful. I don't know what the weight of those coils I was talking about are, but, I'm still thinking of getting at least one bigger coil for the beach. If it gets too heavy, I might look into that side mount housing thing or something to eleviate the weight. I'd like to be able to cover more ground with the bigger coil. There's so much beach out there, it drives me nuts to cover such small areas in a sense. I know, part of the answer to that is find the "hot spots", and concentrate on them, but I'm still having trouble finding any hot spots.

Hello Beachguy. I would hang on to the 5 inch coil for a little bit longer as those have a very good advantage over the larger coils in rubbish areas in sorting out the good targets and it

Thanks Stan. Sounds like you rake quit a bit of dirt off the top, with that rake? That makes a lot of sense if your taking away some of the dirt to make the detector go deeper and if your removing any unwanted targets in the process, it's even better. Good stuff.!
